About the Lodge

Onondaga Lodge is a Craft Lodge working the three degrees of Freemasonry within the Brant Masonic District. Our members come from different walks of life, joined by shared principles and a desire to improve themselves and the world around them.

Who we are

Freemasonry is a fraternity that uses ritual, symbolism, and allegory to teach lessons in morality, discipline, and brotherly love. We are not a religion or political organization. Within the Lodge, we meet as equals.

  • Respectful, structured meetings rooted in long-standing traditions.
  • Opportunities for mentorship, reflection, and steady personal growth.
  • Fellowship with Brethren throughout the Brant District and beyond.

What we do

The work of the Lodge happens both inside and outside the Lodge room: in our ritual, in the way we support one another, and in how we carry ourselves in daily life.

  • Monthly meetings that include degree work, education, and Lodge business.
  • Social nights, visits to neighbouring Lodges, and District events.
  • Support for Masonic and community charities as circumstances allow.

A Brief History of Onondaga Lodge

For more than a century, Freemasons have met in Onondaga to work in the Craft and support the surrounding community.

Founding years

Dispensation to form Onondaga Lodge No. 519 was granted on December 24, 1913. The Charter of Constitution followed on July 16, 1914, issued by the Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Canada in the Province of Ontario.

The first Worshipful Master was Wor. Bro. Robert Cranston, with Bro. William Stout as Senior Warden and Bro. John Clark as Junior Warden.

A Lodge in the village

The Lodge originally met in a hall near its present location. In 1919, a new hall was constructed on Brantford Street. Today, Onondaga Lodge meets in the Onondaga Masonic Temple on Tuscarora Street and continues to labour in the Brant District.

  • Over 100 years of continuous work in the Craft.
  • A Lodge under the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario.
  • Connected with Lodges and concordant bodies across the province.
